Trip to Nettuno

A little bit of catching up with Francesca, a little bit of beach, train ride back and forward and dinner at the Adam's. Wrapping up the last night in Rome tomorrow will be an early start.

Nature in Rome

After finally a last trip to the post office to send the packages to Sicily, we are having a carb delicious snack at Campo dei Fiori. Orsola takes us to the park where finally the kids enjoy a nature walk. At night an after dinner walk in piazza Navona is concluded by an encounter with brooklynite!

Tourists to perfection

Apparently this jet lag is still affecting the kids, we have a late morning breakfast and we manage to meet with the other Francesca (friend since college) and now we have a real Cicerone in our hands. We walk toward the isola Tiberina, heading to the Piazza of the Mouth of truth...try to teach the kids than a lie can get you in trouble, walk through the ghetto, to circus Maximo. History is fighting for space in this town, closer to the roman ruins there are medieval churches, and baroque fountains...please stop ship some treasure to the havenots! Adam is waiting for us in the corner café, we are ready for the aperitivo!

Oh Vatican!

The day at the unavoidable Vatican...museum and basilica. That is the day that makes me wonder about religion. The art, religion, treasures, wealth gets all mix up in a feeling of owes and repulsion.

From piazza to piazza

We manage to get in time to get lunch with Francesca (friends since 1st grade) then visit to Piazza del Popolo, Leonardo Museum, then walk in villa Borghese with superb view of the capital, then Piazza di Spagna, then Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona...late night drink at Campo dei Fiori with our local friends. Who can take so much beauty!!!!
Honestly this city is a bit overwhelming by the many monuments.....

Rome is delicious

We start our Roman tourist mission, walking to the Colosseum, to Roman forum, Piazza Venezia everything is ancient and colorful, invaded by tourists but still utterly pleasant. We get to organize a dinner at our new place in Trastevere, delicious retreat in a quite "vicolo". I am going to a midnight walk with Orsola, it is the roman summer crowd all around.

All the roads lead to Rome

Arrival in Rome, the apt in Vicolo Panieri is cozy and quite, in the heart of Rome and in the spirit of it. We went a bit around with O e A trying to recover from the jet lag. Rome is so beautiful!

Bye Bye NY

Summer has officially starts when the plane pulls away from the gate. Flight to Rome via Dublin, plane with decent leg room and at this point I am looking forward a little well deserved nap.
